about author a television star, fashion designer, and #1 New York Times bestselling author best known for starring in the MTV hit series The Hills. She has been featured on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Elle, Teen Vogue, Us Weekly, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly, among others. She lives in Los Angeles.
This is a great book for someone who is not that adept at makeup/hair etc, but is not really for someone who is more experimental and advanced with makeup. Lauren herself admits to playing it safe with her makeup. If you like Lauren's safe classy chic look (who doesn't) then you will like this book. I myself knew what the book would be like and expected the natural makeup tips and wavy hair and braids tutorials. This isn't breaking new ground or anything, but it's a fun read, with basic informative beauty tips Lauren Conrad's "Beauty" book is already a favorite. I'd call it a "Beauty Bible". The personal touch and conversation LC provides within the chapters make you feel like she's a friend giving you the best advice. I especially love how she makes sure to note that beauty isn't necessarily what you see in others, but what you find within yourself that makes you feel happy and comfortable. It's been hard to put down. The photography, general presentation, and side "tips" within each chapter are so great. In just the first 2 chapters I've learned a few things about myself I didn't realize before. I foresee using this book a lot. This book was significantly better than LC's last book "Style Guide." It's too bad she didn't put that one out now after she had done a little more growing. My personal look is constantly evolving and changing and LC's book is full of great tips and tricks for those still in a learning curve when it comes to this beauty business.
My only problem with "Beauty" and with her last book "Style Guide" is this; Lauren's so-called personal anecdotes. She constantly drops names (expensive brand names that is), or tries to say she can relate to not being able to find a nice outfit...right. When's the last time LC was struggling to find something "nice" at Sears, or Walmart? I just wish she'd stop with those..
Whether she's in front of the camera or behind the scenes, style icon Lauren Conrad has spent years learning from the pros and perfecting her look, and now she's sharing all her beauty secrets.
In her first guide dedicated exclusively to beauty.
